Reflexology – more than just a foot massage
December 7, 2018
I’m so excited to share with you that we offer Therapeutic Reflexology as a treatment option in addition to your current Osteopathic Manual Therapy.
Reflexology is relaxing and provides many health benefits. Our clinic understands that when you are going through physical and emotional stress, it is important to nurture your body, mind and soul. Reflexology fits into that nourishment in a huge way.
I recommend my clients combine treatments with therapeutic reflexology and you don’t have to leave my office – we often treat clients concurrently.
Many people ask how does reflexology work and what it does.
What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic practice that works to keep the body in balance and to help activate the body’s natural abilities to heal itself. It works to restore the body back into its harmonic state. The practice of reflexology divides the body into reflex zones, which covers the entire body. Each zone is represented by points on the bottom of feet. For example, the brain, which is represented on both feet, is connected to a reflex point on your toes.
What Does It Do?
Reflexology can be used to release tension and stress. Stress can be a huge factor in worsening many health conditions. Therapeutic Reflexology allows your body to achieve a level of equilibrium, putting it into an ideal state of balance, allowing it to be able to tackle anything from major to minor health concerns.
On top of releasing this stress, Therapeutic Reflexology can also help improve blood circulation, hormonal balance, digestion, reduce and diminish pain and can induce a deep state of relaxation. Many clients have improved sleep after a Therapeutic Reflexology treatment!
What Happens When I Go?
Reflexology sessions last about 45-90 minutes. Jennifer, our reflexologist, will focus on your feet. Therapeutic Reflexology is a deep massage, your reflexologist should be using firm pressure. However, your session should be gentle and not painful. If you have a low threshold of pain or if you’re experiencing any feet injuries, don’t be shy about letting Jennifer know.
How Often Do I Go?
We will discuss a treatment frequency that is best for your health.
Here’s what some clients say:
“I go whenever I feel really stressed, which is typically the culmination of all the different aspects of my life. Sometimes I have a really crazy month and I get myself there once a week. Sometimes I go one month before feeling the urge. The benefits of a session can last as long as five days, but everyone is different.”
Happy feet, happy mind, healthy body with Therapeutic Reflexology.
